Expanded Bulletin Announcements for Sabbath, February 3, 2018

Welcome to Eastgate SDA Church!
This Weekend!
Pastor Eric Sayler
William Shakespeare’s Macbeth was pretty down on his luck.  He’d fallen so low he seems to have lost all hope:  “Life ... is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
Wow, what a depressing thought! When all hope is lost our minds go to some pretty dark places.
Solomon seems to echo the same pointlessness of life:  “...All is vanity.  What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?"
And then there’s Paul, when reflecting on the weakness he sees in himself he exclaims, “Oh wretched man that I am, who will save me from this body of death?”
Sounds pretty hopeless, doesn’t it?  These authors all seem pretty despondent about life, as if there is no hope, no way out.  The essential experience of hope is sometimes hard to find.
Let it be known, however, Scripture tells us not all is lost, there is Hope to be had!!!
This Sabbath we are exploring the second installment of our three part series, "These Three Remain," this week's topic, "Living Hope.”
I am looking forward to worshiping with you
~Pastor Eric
Come at 9:30am and spend an hour with us in bible study in small groups.  Children’s age appropriate classes too!  Then stay from 10:45am – 12:15pm as we meet in the sanctuary for worship services.

ASWWU Global Service Starry Night Valentine’s Benefit Dinner, February 11, 6:00pm
The Global Service department of the Walla Walla University Student Association is partnering this year with non-profit Beehive International to build a trade school in Haiti - a project we call On this Rock.  Our goal specifically for the 2017-2018 schoolyear is to raise the money needed to build a classroom/wood shop building just outside of Port-au-Prince.  We believe God has big plans for this small school to give the people of Haiti an opportunity to learn a skill and sustain themselves.
On February 11 our team is going to be hosting a Valentine’s benefit dinner to fundraise for this project.  The event will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Walla Walla University Church where we want it to be a relaxing and elegant evening for community members with good food and good music (provided by Walla Walla University Students) and, we will babysit for free!  Please RSVP by February 5 by calling the WWU Church office at (509) 527-2800 before the end of office hours for the day!
